The 8th Mahidol University– The University of Osaka Hospital Joint Conference on the Occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Ramathibodi
On August 21, 2025, the 8th Mahidol–Osaka University Joint Conference was held at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, commemorating Ramathibodi Hospital's 60th anniversary. This conference provided a valuable opportunity for researchers and medical professionals from both institutions to share insights and explore collaborative possibilities in addressing a wide range of contemporary healthcare challenges, including non-communicable diseases (NCDs), obesity, dementia, child development, and medical innovation.
Under the theme “Bridging Continents, Advancing Health: Collaborative Innovations in NCD, Obesity, and Global Well-being,” the event emphasized the significance of cross-border partnerships in advancing global health. The keynote lecture delivered by Osaka University Hospital introduced new perspectives on global health, followed by sessions featuring regulatory insights from the PMDA Asia Office, Eye-tracking-based tablet application for the early detection of cognitive decline and dementia, and joint research outcomes on child development support.
Discussions on obesity prevention included analyses incorporating social determinants from both primary and secondary prevention perspectives. Presentations on cutting-edge technologies such as meniscal repair using stem cells and AI-assisted radiological diagnostics also drew significant attention. In the young researchers’ session, innovative studies on cancer diagnostics and organ preservation were showcased, contributing to the development of future leaders in healthcare.
Additionally, students participating in the WHO Kobe Summer Seminar reported on the intersection of climate change and health, deepening understanding of the relationship between medicine and environmental issues.
Approximately 100 participants joined the conference both onsite and online. The symposium will continue to be held in collaboration between the two universities, and we warmly invite you to join us in future editions.
