(Conference Report) 10th Global Clinical Trial Advanced and Planning Symposium

On March 5, 2026, the 10th Global Clinical Trial Advancement and Planning Symposium was held online, co-hosted by Osaka University Hospital and the National Cancer Center Hospital

The symposium was conducted under the theme of “Together in Asia: Advancing Clinical Research Beyond Borders”.

In Part 1, We were introduced to the “Sharing & Streamlining” initiative, a joint effort between the Central Ethics Review Committee (CREC) and the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA), aimed at addressing challenges in the country’s ethics review and regulatory approval processes. This session provided a valuable opportunity to directly share the latest developments toward accelerating multi-center collaborative clinical trials.

In Part 2, as outcomes of this project, researchers responsible for ongoing studies presented updates on their respective research topics, outlining current progress as well as future perspectives.

In Part 3, updates on the overseas researcher dispatch program were provided. Researchers currently stationed in the United States and the United Kingdom reported on their local activities and experiences.

Finally, in Part 4, speakers from two domestic institutions, along with invited presenters from Malaysia and Vietnam, delivered presentations on national frameworks and initiatives supporting international collaborative clinical research in their respective countries. Comparative discussions across multiple countries offered valuable insights into potential areas for strengthening international cooperation.

During the Q&A sessions following each presentation, key issues were explored in greater depth through questions primarily posed by the session chairs, further enhancing participants’ understanding of international collaborative clinical research.
