(Report) Joint Conference Ramathibodi – Hokkaido – Osaka University

On November 2, 2022, Osaka University, along with Hokkaido University from Japan and Mahidol University-Ramathibodi Hospital from Thailand, sponsored "Go Global 17," a symposium on the development of international human clinical research. The joint event was held in Hokkaido University's alumni hall, Frate, in a hybrid medium. This year's conference focused on patient and public involvement (PPI), cancer, infectious disease, and medical devices and drew a lot of attendees both online and in person.

Following a greeting speech from each hospital, Prof. Beverley Anne Yamamoto, director of the Osaka University UNESCO Chair in Global Health and Education, spoke about the benefits and challenges of implementing patient and public involvement (PPI) in medical research and policy making. She also addressed various running projects on PPI at Osaka University.

At the beginning of each talk, attendees were given background information about the speakers and their research areas. Participants could choose from a variety of sessions throughout the day to conceptualize the topics and develop recommendations at the end of each session. The symposium concluded successfully and productively.
