(Seminar Report) FY2022 International Medical Development Seminar “Medical Products for Low- and Middle-Income Countries -Useful International Deployment Strategy in Practice”

On January 31, 2023, the Bureau of the International Health Cooperation, National Center of Global Health and Medicine (NCGM) , conducted the FY2022 International Medical Development Seminar "Medical Products for Low- and Middle-Income Countries -Useful International Deployment Strategies Useful in Practice- Useful International Deployment Strategy in Practice."

In the Part 1, there were 4 lectures related to a theme of "The lessons learned from NCGM about international expansion of medical care". Then there were also 4 speakers gave us their talk with a topic of "Strategies necessary for international expansion from the perspective of the developing side and the supporting side". In this session Ms. Keiko Fukuda from department of medical innovation, Osaka University Hospital gave a talk entitled "Innovative medical devices under low-resource environments evaluated by WHO -Factors necessary for international expansion seen from actual cases-". In the Part 3, a panel discussion with a theme of "International expansion strategy to be selected locally" was implemented.
Investigators from academia have been developing medical products with a consideration of international expansion as well. It was, therefore, fruitful and helpful for the investigators to learn from this seminar especially about how we should expand medical products to low- and middle-income countries.
