(2nd Seminar Report) Academia Clinical Development

On July 11, 2025, we held the 2nd Academia Clinical Development Seminar online. For this seminar, we welcomed Dr. Shinya Yamamoto, CEO of Link & Innovation Co., Ltd., who gave a lecture titled "The forefront of AI co-creation between tech giants and startups! What is the future of decentralized healthcare?".

First, he spoke about the rapid evolution of AI and the changes it will bring to society. In particular, he stated that GPT-4o (released in May 2023) was a significant turning point for humanity, introducing the evolutionary process through a video. From the demonstration video, we were able to see the power of modern AI technology and realize its greatness.

Additionally, in this lecture, he emphasized the following points.

  • Disruptive technology:

He explained that AI is indispensable for collaborative research and business, and its evolution is a significant turning point for humanity.

  • Decentralized thinking:

The spread of AI will usher in an era of decentralization, where previously limited capabilities will become accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises and individuals, creating new opportunities for experts in the field.

  • Co-creation funding:

A global funding system focused on co-creation rather than competition has been established, and he introduced that the world's first scheme to support the social implementation of research seeds is underway.

Specific examples of AI applications include the creation of specialized documents, such as thesis and protocols. In the medical field, these applications contribute to the efficiency of the field by generating patient summaries from electronic medical records and extracting safety reports from pharmaceutical company package inserts.

At the end of the lecture, The session concluded with a lively Q&A, sparking insightful discussions on the coexistence of AI and humanity. He mentioned that for us to unlock the future, it is important to understand and utilize AI correctly.

The next Academia Clinical Development Seminar is scheduled for September 12. We look forward to welcoming you to the next seminar.
