We held the very first Academia Clinical Development Seminar under the topic of “Healthcare services for assessment including advanced medical care program and healthcare services based on patient application ～Its primary policy and the exit strategies～” on 27th April, in the Multi-Media Hall at Center of Medical Innovation and Translational Research.

The lecturer was Dr. Shoji SANADA MD, PhD who played an active role as a Senior Specialist in Advanced Medicine, Health Policy Bureau, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Government of Japan, and is currently an associate professor of the Department of Medical Innovation at Osaka University Hospital.

Osaka University has just held a press media conference on their start-up for “Healthcare services based on patient application” that has been launched in last April, the first national case with new medical devices in this March, which is attracting the people’s attention amongst us. Because the topic was very timely, the physicians who have intramural developmental seeds aiming at the approval acquisition and many researchers, also more physicians from many sections inside the hospital, Division of Health Sciences, people who have active interests on this topic as well as thankfully people from the outside university enthusiastically joined this seminar. We ended up having nearly 80 guests.

With as much as nearly 80 PowerPoint slides made perfectly in details, every examples and introductions were very comprehensive, so that quite a lot of audiences were taking a note in a studious manner.

More pleasantly, even international secretariats (actually this is us!) were able to enjoy and understand his talk thoroughly.
His lecture could immediately grab the listeners’ curiosity and address as if speaking to audience, therefore after it, we received the very unique comments and impressions such as “I would like him to become a private tutor of my children to pass the university entrance exam in anyhow!” and I assume that through this speech, maybe he got many big fans.

Our next, the 2nd Academia Clinical Development Seminar will be held on 25th May in the Multi-Media Hall at Center of Medical Innovation and Translational Research.
The next lecture will be from DAIICHI SANKYO COMPANY, LIMITED and it will be carried out with the title of "Global clinical research trials from the perspective of pharmaceutical industry ~Global development centered on cancers~".
